Community oncology practices have been participating in value-based care models for almost 5 years, including the Oncology Care Model, MIPS and various commercial payer models. While several have succeeded in these one-sided or two-sided risk models, we have yet to derive one “recipe for success”. With the Oncology Care First model expected to launch in 2022 and all indicators pointing to additional value-based commercial programs in the coming years, practices must continue to adapt to the changing reimbursement landscape.
