The single payer perspective has advantages in terms of the ability to agree on terms with manufacturers for the provision of their drugs and medicines, and the fact that you get equality of access to the drugs for all the population. The cons for that are, if you had multiple payers, you may find that some gain benefit from being able to drive costs down by bulk payments over the arrangements. They’re probably offset by the sort of bulk payments of a single payer.
