Overview

There is little doubt that value-based contracts (VBC) are the future of healthcare. Plan Sponsors must control the total cost of care, on both the healthcare and pharmacy benefits. CINs have emerged as a clear pathway for the celebration of “medical outcomes” over “fee for service”. However, many barriers to entry exist for the exploration of VBC. This program will explore the goals and opportunities presented by VBC, as well as identify both the hurdles and solutions.

Overview

No one truly knows what it is like to experience and navigate through the cancer care ecosystem unless you can experience it up-close and personal through your own eyes. Understanding this, we have put together a panel of patients who will share with us their up-close and personal experiences. We hope and trust that by putting these patient experiences out front through their lens, will help us better understand what we must do to improve upon the quality of care we deliver in the future.

If oncologists are to be expected to use genomic tests in clinical practice, they must have a complete appreciation of their clinical utility. Clarifying the components of a modern definition of clinical utility of genomic testing in cancer that takes into account the full scope of benefits provided to patients and the healthcare system will allow healthcare decision makers to apply it in healthcare policy and clinical practice. In this session, panelists will seek to advance a state-of-the-art definition of clinical utility for genomic testing and discuss recommendations to ensure its appropriate implementation in cancer care.

Overview

There is little doubt that VBC is the future of healthcare, or the Pharmaceutical companies play a critical role in that development. But it takes multiple stakeholders to successfully change payment models from “fee for service” to VBC. Stakeholders need to align and all must comply with a complex maze of federal and state laws. This program will explore recent developments in the healthcare and drug spaces in an attempt to influence the future of VBC.

Overview

Cancer care is complex and expensive, true, but drug benefit designs and coverages made for a one-size- fits-all approach is a less-than-perfect solution for cancer patients. Clearly, healthcare providers and sponsors are looking for meaningful reforms. What meaningful reform can we expect in a Trump or Biden administration? Is there an approach that could get broad support across all stakeholders? Or...are we doomed to perpetual handwringing? This panel will expose and debate the possibilities ahead.

Overview

As one of the largest operational oncology value-based payment models, the Medicare Oncology Care Model (OCM) has been a driving force in the shift from volume to value in oncology care. However, opinions abound regarding what the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) did right in the design of OCM and where there is room for improvement. In this session, we will facilitate a conversation among multiple OCM participant providers and CMS to understand what these stakeholders think was done right regarding OCM and where there are key opportunities for adjustment or innovation moving forward. We will aim to address the key questions of where CMS sees oncology value-based payment models in the future.

Overview

COVID-19 wreaked havoc on the healthcare system and especially, the cancer care segment. The impact of COVID-19 will long be felt as not only did patients put off cancer screening, but the market expects late-term cancers to increase after decades long success of early detection. Additionally, providers needed to create new workflows and adopt telemedicine to supplement the practice paradigm. Unfortunately, no playbook existed, and cancer care providers had to innovate along the way to provide high quality cancer care. This panel will discuss the lessons learned and applied along with future state projections on care.
